This Privacy Policy is effective as of February 1, 2013

 

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Wepware collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a "User") of the http://www.wepware.com website ("Site"). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by Wepware including Wepware Extension and App.

 

What information does Wepware collect from you?

Information you give us:

During registration we ask you to fill in your ID, email address and password that will be used for identification when you login to Wepware. 

We respect your privacy. Therefore we will not use your email address and name for other purpose than sending you newsletters, important notices or contact you in reference to any issue which is currently open or was open in the past between you and Wepware.

We don’t have the ability to opt you out from our newsletters and notice emails yet. But we will have this feature in nearest future and we will announce about it.

 

In ‘Profile’ section we ask you to fill in your full name, gender, profile image and location to personalize user experience. Your name and profile image is shown to other users to identify the owner of the content that you have collected (grabbed) and shared. Location is used to identify the appropriate language that you might have a preference to use and serve you with the content that is relevant to the location you mention.

In ‘About me’ section of the ‘Account Settings’ page, we encourage user to write few lines describing themselves. We don’t take responsibility for the content of your ‘About me’ message. However, if we notice or receive a report of a content that is abusive or offensive in any way to other users, we will insist upon the user to change or remove it. In case of failure to establish productive communication we will delete user account with preliminary warning messages by email.

 

Information that we get from your use of our service

Connection with external social networks

When you allow Wepware to connect to your Facebook or Twitter accounts the app will ask your permission to make public posts, collect basic user info and access friends/ followers lists. This is up to your risk whether to connect to them or not. Wepware app will also access your social network data (basic info and email address) each time you login to Wepware through Facebook or Twitter for authentication.

Remember, that you can choose to link or unlink your account from Facebook and/or Twitter, and you can also choose whether or not to publish your activity on that particular social network. For example, you can check or uncheck the option of sharing with Facebook and Twitter when saving your grabbed content.

The social networks that you choose to link to, may contact you directly as necessary. Your use of such applications and services is not governed by Wepware’s terms or Privacy Policy. Wepware does not control the applications or services of those third parties or how they use your information.

 

Mobile devices

If you want to access Wepware service through your mobile device, you will have to download and install Wepware mobile app. The app will gather information about your device type and operation system.

 

Browsing activity

When Wepware user connects to our system, we track his cookies, browser version and type, type of computer or mobile device and its operating system.

-Cookies: Our Site and Extension software use "cookies" to enhance User experience. User's web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. User may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly.

-Other technical information: We need to collect details about your browser, device and operating system in order to know how and in what environment our users connect to Wepware. For example, for downloading appropriate Wepware version that fits current user’s browser type. We always strive to enhance the functionality and performance to serve our customers.

-When a user grabs something from web pages, Wepware Extension gathers the following:

  1. Page title
  2. Page URL
  3. Page meta data
  4. Location in browser window
  5. Screenshot of the selected area
  6. Description (optionally entered by user)
  7. Folder name (selected by user)
  8. Whether grab is Private or Public

It is important to notice that Wepware doesn’t track or gather any information or data that user enters on a website where he browses. It only saves whatever user grabs in the exact location of a page.

 

Can I modify my personal information?

Users can view and modify their personal information in Settings –> Account Settings page. It is located next to user profile image. You can change your email address, user name, gender, location, profile picture, ‘About me’ description, password and connectivity status with Facebook and Twitter accounts. You cannot change your ID! Only in case we get a report that your ID infringes someone's copyrights, we will temporarily modify your ID and notify you with a suggestion to change it to a new one.

 

Can I control privacy for my content?

You can control the privacy for all the content you grab. 

For instance, when you make a grab, you are given a choice to make your grabs public or private. Even if you mark something as private and put it into a public or shared folder, it will still remain private and unseen to others.

If you mark your grabs as public but put it into a private folder, your friends will see your public grabs.

Please, note that when you created public folders anyone can view them. Moreover, anyone can view information that you enter in ‘About me’ field of a profile page.

 

External links

Wepware does not have ads; however users may grab and share items that may be a way to advertise any kind of product. Therefore, you should be aware that when you click the title of the grab it will redirect you to the original website where the content was grabbed. It is up to your risk to do so in case the website has a malicious code, files or links. Make sure you protect yourself with the antivirus filters and follow browser suggestions about safety of such content. Only if you are sure that content isn’t going to harm you, proceed with the link. We are not responsible for the content of the external website or the content that is grabbed by users and which you view.

 

Is my private information safe?

Security measures

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site. 

Sensitive and private data exchange between the Site and its Users happens over a SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures. Currently we support SSL channel during registration, changing account settings, sign in and sign out sessions.

We do all that is possible to protect the information that we get from you and keep our products bug-free and safe, but we can’t make guarantees about any part of our service or products. However, if Wepware learns of a security system breach, we may attempt to notify you and provide information on protective steps, if available, through the contact information that you’ve provided to us. But Wepware won’t hold responsible for any possible user information alteration or loss if such event occurs.

 

Third party websites

We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers.

Though we don’t share any of your data unless it’s permitted by you, in case of legal action we will support official authorities in investigation as much as we can by providing required information.

 

Change of Service owner

If the ownership of our business changes, we may transfer your information to the new owner so they can continue to operate the service. But they will still have to honor the commitments we have made in this Policy.

 

How can I report offensive, abusive or spam content?

If you encounter offensive, abusive, spam content or content that violates Wepware’s Terms of Service, please, email us directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. We are planning to develop a more direct and simple method for reporting in near future, until then we hope for your cooperation.

 

Policy on use by children

Wepware is not directed to children under 13. Any use or access by anyone under the age of 13 is prohibited.

 

How do I know about changes in this privacy policy?

We may change this policy from time to time. In the event of such change we will update the Policy effective date (on the top of the page). We recommend that you periodically check back here to stay informed of any changes. 

We will ask for your consent to Policy changes if required by applicable law; in other cases, if you continue to use Wepware after those changes are in effect, you agree to the revised Policy.

If you disagree with any changes and do not wish your information to be subject to the revised Policy, you are free to close your account and discontinue using Wepware services.
